Early Voting for the November General Election begins Friday, September 18!

Location: City Hall, 116 West Beverley Street. (Voting takes place in front of Council Chambers.)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Additional Weekend Voting Opportunities:

Saturdays: October 24 & October 31, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sundays: October 18 & October 25, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Fall Heavy Trash Collection is coming up!

Collection officially begins Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Important: All items must be at the curb no later than 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. Once collection crews have passed through a neighborhood, they will not return.

Give it a Second Life: In the spirit of our Less to the Landfill initiative, please consider donating gently used items before tossing them!

Several local charities offer FREE pickup for large furniture and working appliances. Just search “Staunton donation pickup” to find organizations ready to help.

August 31

The schedules for City of Staunton offices and facilities will be modified in observance of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7. Beverley Street will remain closed for Shop & Dine Out in Downtown on Labor Day, with bollards being removed by 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Trash Collection

Residential: Residential trash regularly scheduled for pickup on Monday, Sept. 7 will be collected on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Downtown Central Business District: CBD customers will receive trash collection on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and additionally on Wednesday, Sept. 9 with normal pick up the remaining days of the week.

Recycling Center Hours

The Recycling Center will be closed Monday, Sept. 7 and will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Library Hours

The Staunton Public Library will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 6 and Monday, Sept. 7 and will return to its normal schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The outdoor book drop will be open for returns, and digital books and other online resources are available 24/7 at www.StauntonLibrary.org.

Please note that seasonal 1-5 p.m. Sunday hours will resume Sunday, Sept. 13.

Administrative Office Hours

The City of Staunton’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Household Hazardous Waste Day is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Waynesboro Facilities Shop (900 Essex Ave).

This is a free event for residents of Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro to safely dispose of items like oil-based paints, pesticides, gasoline, and propane tanks.

A few quick reminders:

• No business waste, unknown containers, or medications.
• No trailers are permitted.
• Water-based/latex paint is NOT hazardous and can be dried out and thrown in your normal trash.
