The Visulite is showing Renoir

As part of their Monday Night Art Film Series The Visulite is showing Renoir Suburban Tokyo, 1987. Imaginative eleven-year-old Fuki begins her summer break lonely and adrift – her kind, terminally ill father has landed once again in the hospital and her mother, distracted by the inevitability of his diagnosis, hasn’t much time for her daughter. Fuki responds to the situation not with tears but with placid curiosity about the prospect of death – becoming fascinated by the occult and experimenting with hypnotism. As the summer passes, Fuki encounters a string of lonely, imperfect adults, all of whom nudge her closer to an emotional truth she isn’t quite ready to name yet.

The Off Center Presents American Myths

It’s the 250th birthday of an idea that means radically different things to everyone who beholds it. Staunton, Virginia, is one part of that country. This puppet and clown play is based on stories from members of Staunton’s community.

Learn How To Create A Clay Nightlight Lamp at The Staunton Clayground

This offering is for an outrageously fun handbuilding class where students will make an enchanting nightlight lamp. Each student will get to choose a theme and build their unique lamp according to their own liking. The nightlights will be adorned with miniature cityscapes or houses with glowing windows and adorable doors/shutters, as well as plenty of whimsical wildflowers, mushrooms and birds. Students can add animals, gardens, gnomes, clear ponds of crestline glass—or anything else they can imagine! All skill levels welcome. Electronics will be provided.

Join them as they follow Perdita and Millie, two sisters with a box of fairy gold and a mission to mend the past. Along the way, they face tricksters, towering forests, and the simple truth that saying “I’m sorry” can be the most magical spell of all. Filled with laughter, adventure, and the kind of moments that spark big conversations long after the show ends. This show welcomes everyone: families, classrooms, and anyone curious about Shakespeare. Whether this is your first time in the Playhouse or your fiftieth, you will feel right at home under shared light. This special event features a dedicated cast engaged specifically for this production. It is presented outside of our mainstage season, so you can enjoy a unique, one-of-a-kind performance designed with young audiences in mind. Recommended for ages 3 and up (and the young at heart). However, it is choices, both mundane and gripping, and where those choices have taken her that make her life so intimate and surprisingly complicated. Spanning across seven decades and running out of chronological order, the key moments in Mary Page’s life are captured, emphasizing the complexity and fragility of human existence. As five different actresses play the character throughout her life, eleven very ordinary snapshots show us just how extraordinary life can be.

Stonewall Brigade Band Summer Schedule

The Stonewall Brigade Band is a community concert band with woodwind, brass and percussion instruments averaging 70 playing members during each summer concert season. Concerts are free. The Stonewall Brigade Band will provide their annual summer concert series every Monday evening, June through August, on the bandstand at Gypsy Hill Park. Selections include music from all genres, such as marches, rock and pop, Broadway musicals, sacred, jazz, symphonic, and so much more! Bring a lawn chair or blanket, the kids, the dog, and your neighbors and enjoy a lovely Monday evening with great music. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays at the Gypsy Hill Park bandstand. Concerts are held rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather. View weather cancellations on the WHSV website. Concessions available.
