Scotland Journey – Paintings by John M. Bell

“These paintings are from a series of works relating to my numerous travels in Scotland. My Bell family ancestors emigrated from the Borders of Scotland in the 1820s. I love the beauty, humanity, and history that are contained in the landscape, Neolithic sites, and stone structures of Scotland. In my acrylic and oil paintings, I seek to capture the powerful human and elemental presence that is still felt today. I am especially attracted to the more remote places in the Highlands and Isles.”

John is a retired Professor of Art (Blue Ridge Community College, VA) who lives in Augusta County, Virginia. He earned his Master of Fine Arts (Painting and Drawing) from James Madison University and Bachelor of Arts (Studio Art) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has shown his works in over 60 solo, juried, and group exhibits throughout the U.S.A.
