Wayne Theatre and Virginia Scenic Railway Present “Couples in Transit: An Evening with Shakespeare’s Lovers”
The Wayne Theatre, in partnership with the Virginia Scenic Railway, is pleased to present Couples in Transit: An Evening with Shakespeare’s Lovers, a distinctive live performance experience set aboard a moving train departing from Staunton. This one-of-a-kind production combines live theatre, dining, and scenic rail travel into a fully immersive experience. Guests will step aboard a beautifully restored vintage train car and travel through the Virginia countryside while professional actors from the Wayne Theatre’s acclaimed ReperTOURy group perform a series of intimate scenes inspired by Shakespeare’s most memorable love stories. Featuring selections from Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest, and more, the production brings audiences into close proximity with the performers, creating a highly engaging and personal theatrical experience. The performance unfolds throughout the journey, allowing guests to experience storytelling in a setting that is both dynamic and intimate. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is required.

Doors and drinks at 6:30, show starts at 7:30! What style of improv will you see? It’s called TheatreSports: a competitive improv form where participants engage in unscripted scenes with minimal setup, relying on instinct and bold choices to drive the action forward. You, the audience, get to vote whether the scene was successful or not! Only one improviser will be awarded the winner of our show!
