Join local amateur astronomers for a guided tour of the December constellations. Learn stories and lore from the “Western sky culture” along with astronomical traditions and constellation interpretations originating from Ancient Greek, Roman and Mesopotamian culture in this fun and interactive way to enjoy the night sky.

Staunton Downtown Development’s A Holly Jolly Holiday

Starting on the 29th with a holiday story that will be brought to life through 8 windowscapes along Beverley Street through December 20th with a visit from Santa.  There are events planned all month long. Be sure to head downtown on Monday, December 1 for the Staunton Christmas Parade Find a spot on Beverley St. and come be part of the magic of the holiday season! Santa will be ushered in by a host of local talent, businesses, lights and spectacle!

CoArt Gallery presents December’s Featured Artist Diane Gage

Diane Gage’s delightful exhibition brings together mixed media collages that wander between the familiar and the mysterious. House cats lounge and abstract forms buzz with movement and color. The cats – depicted in moments of rest – anchor the viewer in the familiar, while the abstracts expand into layered shape-shifting compositions. The common thread between them is the color green in all of its sublime variations. Opening Reception Saturday, Dec. 6, 4-6 p.m.

Celebration of Holiday Lights

For the 20th year in a row, beautiful Gypsy Hill Park’s 214 acres will be aglow with holiday lights, from the Monday before Thanksgiving through the end of December, each evening from 5:00 – 11:00. This event is free and open to the public.
