The Three Continents Music Show, is an international music program featuring music from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. What makes this show different from ordinary “world music” programs is that it is presented by people from these three continents living in our community. WQSV is not bringing the music of the world to you – we are just introducing you to who and what are already here.
The Staunton Observer is a monthly community journalism magazine written and produced by WQSV’s journalism volunteers. This half-hour show presents feature stories on what is going on in Staunton and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley. Our pilot show includes features about the Middle River Clean-up, Hunger in Staunton, and the Staunton Makerspace. These stories were recorded, written and produced by volunteers working to develop community radio journalism in Staunton.
Your host, “Bluegrass Chuck” Troutman, is a longtime friend of bluegrass music. Bluegrass Morning features an eclectic mix of new and old, traditional, new grass, folk and near grass. Chuck cut his radio teeth during a 17-year stint at James Madison University’s WXJM radio station. He also hosted Bluegrass Thursday, a concert series which had a 10-year run at Harrisonburg’s Court Square Theater.
